April 2008:

With spring came the completion of the new sign at Veritas Farm along with a recently installed watering system in our barn. The tack room also received a “facelift” with the addition of 16 new saddle racks for our boarders tack.  Now that the warmer weather is here we are able to pack up the horse’s winter blankets in the airtight storage containers provided by Veritas.

The first show of the year for Amy and DVF Heart Lite was a success with the winning of the western pleasure class. Derek even got in on the action and took Headlight in the western horse in hand class for the win. Next month its on to the regional show!

June 2007:

Next stop for Veritas Farm was the Mid-A morgan horse show held in Lexington VA.  Amy Sargent and DVF Heartlite again proved they are a strong force at shows by winning the Amt. Western Pleasure Championship!

Here is what the Morgan Connection Magainzine had to say about Amy & "Headlight":

"It was interesting that there were only two entries in the Amateur Stallions & Geldings class and that both entries were A-OT's. Of course, we are talking about two of the best A-OT's in the mid- Atlantic area. Elizabeth Abernathy and Amy Sargent. "

"I understand that Amy and her horse are headed to OKC this year where I am sure they will be very competitive."

"The amateur championship featured six competitive entries. Amy Sargent and DVF Heart Lite pulled everything together and were rewarded with the championship."

We also welcomed a new horse to the farm for training and he is already under saddle after 2 weeks!

May 2007:

DVF Heartlite and Amy Sargent found themselves at the Southern States Regional Horse Show at the end of May and came home with 2 first place ribbons!

January 2007:

The 2007 winter has already brought some snow to the farm (2 inches to be exact).  It was a great day to snap some pictures!

On the 26th the dogs are heading to Timonium Maryland to perform in the K-9 Classic Agility Show. It will be the 5th time for Kit and a first for Sake’.

December 2006:
More improvements are underway at the farm! We had a load of stonedust delivered and dug out the front and back entrances to the barn making a mud free walk-way.

Hay racks were installed in every stall and a “hay drop” hole cut above each. During feeding time we just climb into the hay loft and drop the hay straight into the racks (makes feeding time fast and easy). The barn isle stays sparking clean and the horses already know their hay is coming when they see us on the ladder.

November 2006:

It’s been a busy fall here at Veritas Farm! Work on getting the cobwebs cleared off the barn and broken boards on the fences replaced is in full swing. The boarders and visitors can not believe the transformation already...and we've only just begun!

The loft is packed with 500+ bales of hay for winter and the sawdust pile is filled to the brim. The purchase of a new tractor and manure spreader has lead to cleaning out the run-in sheds and the beginning stages of making the footing in the arena perfect!

With the new season came old friends as Veritas filled every one of its stalls with past boarding buddies who had heard about the recent purchase of the farm. The insulation of new stall mats begins this weekend and a delivery of footing will follow soon behind for the round pen.

October 2006:

Amy flys out to Congress on the 20th of October to meet up with some friends. Be sure to check back for pictures of the trip.

June 2006:

The Mid-A Morgan Horse show held in Lexington VA as the next stop for the team of DVF Heartlite and Amy Sargent. In true form Heartlite and Amy went in and won their first class which was the limit horse class with 7 other horses competeing against them.

April 2006:

In April Veritas Farm took two horses to the Mason Dixon Classic Horse show in Quentin PA. Our horses and riders came home with 3 Championship Ribbons, 1 Reserve Championship Ribbon, 6 first place ribbons and 3 second place ribbons.

DVF Heartlite made his show ring debut at the Mason Dixon Classic a winning one! In his first class ever he beat out a group of 8 horses to claim the win. Heartlite went on to win the Amateur owned trained and shown class as well as the novice horse class both deep in competition. He then went on to win the Amateur Championship making it the second year in a row that a horse trained by Amy Sargent claimed this title. DVF Heartlite went on to be the open reserve champion of the Mason Dixon Classic…not bad for his first time out!

Midsummer Night Jazz had a great show after a year off. He carried his rider to the jr. exhibitor western pleasure championship. They went on to win the Western Equitation Championship after nailing a tough pattern. “Sunday” showed his versatility by winning the road hack class his first time ever showing in one!

What a great start to the 2006 show season!
